Certain elements are commonly used in media-related metadata definitions. This section defines these common elements in the form of the "md" namespace.

Full documentation is a combination of the written document and the XML Schema itself.

Version 2.7 adds substantial new features to Common Metadata, including support for franchises/brands/universes, related works, more sophisticated TV internationalization, and technical metadata improvements (e.g., dynamic metadata, and additional encoding parameters). General updates such as new codec controlled vocabularies, minor corrections, and clarifications (e.g., CountryOfOrigin) are included. This is one of the most substantial Common Metadata updates.
